The topic of workforce development is near and dear to our hearts at MREA. We started providing training in solar PV, solar thermal, small wind energy, and energy efficiency in 1990. We were one of the first accredited solar training programs in the country and still maintain accreditation with the Interstate Renewable Energy Council to this day. For over thirty years we''ve committed ourselves to offering the most accessible, affordable, and market-relevant solar training and today more than 600 individuals a year utilize our training to get a foothold in the industry, earn certifications, and sharpen their skills.

SEIA''s member companies will need a pipeline of trained workers across the spectrum of roles from project managers to engineers, salespeople, manufacturing technicians, installers, electricians, system designers, operations managers, executives, and a variety of business professionals. Roles involving solar installation and installation of related technologies including battery storage, field service maintenance, electrical work, and sales roles to name a few, are some of the fastest growing roles in the industry, and they do not typically require a college degree. In fact, less than half.
There are career opportunities at companies of all types and sizes, from small companies that install rooftop systems in a city or region to large nationwide development and construction firms working on large-scale projects across the country, and everything in between. There is also a growing U.S.-based solar manufacturing industry and a wide array of business, legal, engineering, and financial service providers that support all segments of the industry.
The solar industry is growing rapidly, and we need an expanded skilled workforce to keep pace with this growth.
