Founded in 2006, Enphase transformed the solar industry with its revolutionary microinverter technology, which turns sunlight into a safe, reliable, resilient and scalable source of energy to power our lives. Today, our intelligent microinverters work with virtually every solar panel made, and when paired with our award-winning smart battery technology, they create one of the industry''s best-performing clean energy systems.

The Enphase Energy System helps people make, use, save and sell their own power. This includes our industry-leading app, which provides unprecedented data and control in the palm of your hand. For the first time in the evolution of our centuries-old grid, people can get paid for the clean energy they produce and share with their communities, and build a new energy future that harnesses the sun. This clean, free, abundant source of energy can power our lives and ultimately help replace fossil fuels altogether.

Today, if you see a home with solar panels on it, there''s a good chance it''s an Enphase home. Enphase has shipped approximately 68 million microinverters, and approximately 3.5 million Enphase-based systems have been deployed in more than 145 countries, helping millions of people gain access to clean, affordable, and reliable energy while creating good jobs and a more carbon-free future for everyone. Enphase is putting people and their power at the center of our shared energy future.

The company has invested $4.4m in the new facility to develop and test future energy technologies for global markets.

The R&D facility will help Enphase in conducting global compliance testing and verification capabilities for its microinverters as well as provide a platform to expand their future development of the Enphase AC Battery.

Enphase AC Battery is a modular energy storage system that integrates with the Enphase Home EnergySolution.

The new facility is claimed to be the company’s second largest engineering facility outside Petaluma, California.

Enphase will launch their Home Energy Solution from Winter 2016 in New Zealand and Australia, and this would be the first time that the company will be launching in these two countries.

The company has been operating in Christchurch since 2011, involving in the design, development, and testing of microinverters sold in the Asia Pacific and European markets.

IHS recently estimated that nearly 30,000 households in Australia will opt for photovoltaic (PV)-plus-energy storage systems by 2018. Many suppliers already have a presence in the country due to its vast potential.

Enphase Energy Asia Pacific managing director said: "New Zealand is an important market for the Enphase Home Energy Solution. As a country with a significant proportion of renewable energy in its grid electricity, relatively low solar uptake and a tremendous desire for energy independence, we’ve observed a keen interest from New Zealanders in the upcoming launch of our home energy solution."

Earlier this month, Enphase was chosen by financial services provider Spruce Finance as its preferred supplier of inverters. Spruce will use Enphase products for over 20MW of new residential solar in the US.

Spruce vice-president Joe Steenbergen said: "The combination of Spruce’s attractive financing options with Enphase’s smart and easy-to-install technology will help thousands of homeowners save money on their electricity bills."
