TheChoralScholars; fromTewkesbury Abbey, and Bristol, Worcester, Exeter, Truro, Gloucester, Wells andHereford Cathedrals, are putting together a virtual service of Choral Evensong, raising money for the Cathedral Choirs' Emergency Fund. They hope this project will be the start of further regional collaboration, either digitally or physically when allowed, and wish to use this as a springboard to strengthencollaborative work. The service will be broadcast live, from this page, on the 28th July at 6.30pm.

Built to house Benedictine monks, the Norman Abbey of Tewkesbury was near completion when consecrated in 1121. The Abbey quietly dominates the land and skyline with its long nave and “probably the largest and finest Romanesque tower in England” (Pevsner).

Tewkesbury Abbey Schola Cantorum is the choir of men and boys which sings the weekday services. The choir school for the choristers is Dean Close.

The Abbey Choir is a voluntary choir with members drawn from Tewkesbury and the surrounding area, which sings the Sunday services only. Each Sunday a choir of boys, girls and men sing at the Sung Eucharist, whilst the 5pm Choral Evensong is sung by a mixed choir of ladies and men.

**NB: Be sure to check the music list link (left column of this page) before travelling to the church, as there can often be discrepancies between that and thetimes on the calendar below.**

ABBEY CHOIRThe Abbey Choir is a voluntary choir of girls, boys, ladies and men drawn from Tewkesbury and beyond, with many members travelling considerable distances to sing in our glorious building.

On most Sundays a full choral setting is sung at the 10.30am Sung Mass. The first Sunday of the month there is a Family Mass at 9.30am. Choral Evensong is sung at 5pm and on the third Sunday Solemn Evensong and Benediction is sung. A wide range of repertoire is sung, ranging from ancient plainsong to music by contemporary composers. The choir has appeared on BBC 1 and Radio 4 and has featured on BBC Radio Gloucestershire''s Christmas Celebration.

Singing in the Abbey, with its wonderful acoustics, to the accompaniment of the famous Milton organ, is an incredible experience and an opportunity open to all.
