For the last two decades or so, motorists in Uzbekistan could buy any car brand they wanted, as long as it was either a Daewoo or Chevrolet.

This limited selection resulted from the de facto monopoly held by government-controlled UzAvtosanoat, which manufactured vehicles under those brands through joint ventures.
